Life Members
2026
As part of our 100th anniversary celebrations, Boroughmuir Cricket Club was delighted to recognise three outstanding members of our club with Life Membership—Katherine Fraser, Gus McLean and Charles Buchan.
Katherine Fraser
Katherine was a Boroughmuir junior when she made her Scotland debut at the age of 14 in 2019. Though she only made a handful of appearances for the senior sides before moving on to bigger things, she is the first (and only) Boroughmuir player to be internationally capped whilst a member of the club and a true credit to the club.
Gus McLean
At the other end of the spectrum, Gus has long been known throughout Scottish cricket for his miserly bowling. Playing into his 70s, Gus still took regular wickets with his left arm round swing before his retirement in 2022. The exact number isn't known, but he took hundreds of wickets for 'Muir and other clubs throughout Scotland. Our records have his last 100 wickets at an average of 10 and economy of under 2.5.
Charles Buchan
Charles is a monumental figure in Boroughmuir history. A high quality top order batsman with the most solid of front foot defences, Charles was equally a significant threat with his outswing bowling and his work in the covers led to the name "Great Wall of Charles." Charles is a significant off field presence in the club too, captaining the 2nd XI until his retirement in 2017 and serving as the club treasurer for over 20 years before standing down last year. It is no overstatement to say that without his efforts, the club would not exist as it does today.
Congratulations to Katherine, Gus and Charles, and thank you for your continued contribution to the Boroughmuir family.
