2025 AGM Report
The club’s 2025 AGM took place on the 18th November at Canalside.
On the agenda were a season review, updates regarding the 2026 Centenary year, kit supply, a new 3rd XI and the election of club office bearers.
Season Review
The season as a whole was successful. We recruited well, both teams stayed in their respective divisions and player numbers were strong.
Congratulations go to players of the season Gajander Singh (1st XI, Chris Sprott Shield) and Marcus Cunnington (2nd XI, Kenny Skidmore Shield)
2026 Centenary Planning
A Centenary Planning Committee has been meeting regularly to prepare for the upcoming 100 year anniversary of the club’s founding. Communications from the committee will come out in the New Year regarding events with options including a celebratory meal, one off matches throughout the season and a potential weekend invitational tournament
Kit Supply
We’re delighted to announce that Surridge Sports will be supplying club kit for the next two seasons in partnership with Football Nation Teamwear. The new club shop is now live at http://www.thefootballnation.co.uk/boroughmuir-cricket-club and from Football Nation’s retail unit at Peffermill.
3rd XI
With club numbers looking healthy we will be looking to enter a new 3rd XI in the ESCA leagues for the 2026 season. The decision on a captain has been deferred to a later date to allow for expressions of interest.
Club Office Bearers
Paul Hutton (Club President), Charles Buchan (Treasurer), Syed Ahmed (First XI Captain) and Vishaal Kumar (Social Secretary) stood down from their roles. The meeting expressed particular thanks to Charles Buchan for his long involvement with the club. Without Charles’ work and contributions, it’s very likely that we wouldn’t have the club today.
The meeting appointed Martin Pickett as Treasurer, Tom Millar as Social Secretary, and Sharez Khan as First XI Captain. Lastly, the meeting was delighted to appoint George Dickson as Club President. George has a long-standing involvement with the club, having been a player since 13, opening the batting for bother the First and Second XIs, before moving in to umpiring a couple of years ago. It’s an absolute pleasure to have someone with a long involvement with the club in the role of President in our Centenary year.
