Second XI Player of the Season
Following a stellar season with the bat, and a pretty good season in the field, Marcus Cunnington crowned his debut season with the ‘Muir by picking up the Kenny Skidmore Shield, awarded to the Second XI Player of the Year.
Marcus scored 362 runs in Division 6 across 9 appearances at an average of 60.33.
Club President Paul Hutton:
Difficult to give a reason that isn’t the clichéd “he scored a lot of runs”. That would rather sum it up, but there’s a bit more to it than that. Firstly, he scored them very well. Not just the big slog shots, but tip-and-runs that kept the scoreboard moving. It was proper, classic batting of a style we haven’t seen at the club for a while.
Secondly, he took great catches. The sort of chances where you look up and think to yourself, “it’s okay, I can see who’s under it”.
Congratulations Marcus on an incredible season, it’s been our pleasure to have you alongside us this season.
